Newport News Soliciting Ideas For New Mural

I Very thank because ur visit in the my website with title Newport News Soliciting Ideas For New Mural. Happy reading

You could paint on the side of a building and get the city to pay for it — that is, if you’re willing to listen to the community.

The city of Newport News is looking for an artist to paint a mural, using community input and ideas, on the side of the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Hampton Roads, 629 Hampton Ave.

The mural is being billed as part of the city’s massive plan to revitalize Ridley Place — Newport News’ oldest public housing complex — and its surrounding blocks.

That plan is more generally known as the Choice Neighborhood Initiative, part of a federal program through the Department of Housing and Urban Development. The city received $500,000 in federal dollars to plan out how it will rehabilitate the area. The plan includes developing mixed-income housing in that part of the Southeast Community, considered one of the poorest parts of Newport News.
