West Hollywood

Iam Very thank because your visit in the my website with title West Hollywood. Happy reading

WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA – There are a ton of great shows to catch this week in Los Angeles County, and we've gathered a list of live music from twenty of the county's top music venues for this week's round-up. From blues, to throwbacks, to indie rock, and electronic, there's something for everyone to see.

Jazz-rock duo The Mattson 2 will be performing at the Lodge Room this Friday. The identical twin brothers have traveled all over the world and performed with the likes of Toro Y Moi, Badbadnotgood, Ray Barbee, Chaz Bear, and more. Jared Mattson's layered guitars and Jonathan Mattson's intricate jazz drumming make their music sound like the coolest jazz you've ever heard.

Patch caught up with the brothers to find out what it's like working with your identical twin, what inspired their instrumental music, and what they hope for the future of their band.

Emily Holland: How would you describe your music in 5 words?

Jared and Jonathan Mattson: Twin brother aquatic psych jazz.

EH: What's it like working with your twin brother?

J&JM: It's seamless, when we are in a tuned head space at full throttle the music the emits is almost writing itself because of the communication bond.

EH: What (or who) is your music inspired by?

J&JM: As cliche as it sounds, it's truly an amalgamation of all of our influences ranging from '70s psych to '80s yacht jazz. We use the guitar as the "singer" and melodic voice so vocal music really informs our phrasing.

EH: I know you've toured all around the world, what makes performing in LA/close to home different from other places?

J&JM: LA has a magic and mystery that I can't put into words. The music scene has an output that almost emits rays of sun.

EH: Who has been your favorite artist(s) to collaborate with?

J&JM: We don't have a favorite. We have valued and loved all collaborators in different ways. I feel we have grown as musicians so naturally our most recent project with Chaz Bear is a highly evolved indicator of who we are as composers which I like. I think the collaboration nurtured a very mature balance between genres, which is not seen very often, even with the incredible access to endless music and styles.

EH: What bands/artists are you listening to right now?

J&JM: Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Augustus Pablo, Early ECM era Pat Metheny.

EH: What do you hope for the future of the band?

J&JM: We want to continue to do what we love 100% in an environment that is conducive to that desire. In order to do that, we need support from fans. When we first started playing music, we played for ourselves and didn't really have concern for the listeners. As we have grown as full-time artists, we have a sensitivity to make music that is both expressive and creative yet it is digestible and appeals to listeners in a way that it touches their life. To create an ever-evolving soundtrack to capture memories and peoples life experiences.

Catch The Mattson 2 at the Lodge Room on Friday, August 17 at 7 p.m.
