I Very thank because your visit in the my website with title Win A Copy Of The Brighton Mermaid Terms & Conditions. Happy reading

NEVER mind who’s topping the bill — a festival can leave you with a bill that tops £400.

That’s the average cost of going to one in the UK — including the ticket, transport plus food and drink — according to money.co.uk.

Festivals don't have to leave you so out of pocket

But there are savings to be had, starting from when you book. Last year half of festival-goers nabbed early bird tickets which are cheaper.

Sun Savers reveals top money- saving tips for festivals that will be music to your ears.

  1. Carpool. Public transport can be extortionate if you are travelling a long distance. Get the gang together and pool resources for petrol — and add a killer playlist for the journey. If there aren’t enough people or you can’t drive, use sites such as gocarshare.com/festival to find or offer a lift.

  2. Drinks. A pint can cost as much as a fiver at most festivals so having a decent stock of booze at your campsite can help you save the pennies. Check with the organisers how much you can bring as it varies. If you don’t fancy lugging crates of beer, share spirits with your mates. You can’t bring glass in so pour your spirit of choice in a foldable water bottle — Poundland sells two for £1.

  3. Food. Festival nosh is notoriously expensive, which means you could spend up to £50 daily on meals. Plan ahead to save your wallet by buying 35p instant noodle pots from Asda and pay for hot water which is usually around £1 on-site. Stock up on snacks such as cereal bars from Tesco, which are 70p for 6-pack, and plenty of cured meats and mini pies in a cool box — the carbs should keep those hangovers at bay.

  4. Work it. Want to enjoy all the music at a festival for

FREE? Working at a festival is your best bet. It will involve a set number of hours doing jobs such as working behind the bar, spreading the word about a charity or litter duty. You can apply with sites such as festaff.co.uk, or charities like Oxfam. Working with Oxfam also rewards you with free meals and hot showers — what a luxury!

  5. Go abroad. Most of the festivals in Europe are cheaper than ones in the UK — and usually have better weather. Rock en Seine in Paris is only £122 for three days and features worldwide acts including Macklemore and 30 Seconds to Mars. If that doesn’t sway you, maybe consider just getting a day pass.

  6. Pack essentials. Make a list of things you need beforehand because supermarkets and chemists are not readily available and the shops on-site are expensive. To save money, your group can set up a PayPal Money Pool as a pot for your essentials, creating it via social media and tracking your targets — so you can see who hasn’t paid for that round of beers.
